Information for/about Former Faculty

We are grateful to our former faculty members for their service and dedication to the university. On this page, we host information regarding retired faculty members, as well as faculty members who have passed away while working at Tufts.

If an academic department in the School of Arts and Sciences or School of Engineering would like to recommend a full-time faculty member for emeritus status upon retirement, please refer to Chapter 2 of the AS&E Faculty Handbook for criteria about this type of appointment. For more information, please contact the Secretary of the Faculty for Arts, Sciences and Engineering, Erin Sullivan, or call (617) 627-3156.

Activities and Opportunities for Faculty Emeriti

The Office of the Provost maintains a database listing all emeriti faculty, in all schools of the university. To help keep the information updated, please notify the Office of the Provost of any change in mailing address, email address, or other information. Annual Luncheon

The Office of the Provost invites emeriti faculty members to attend an annual luncheon held on the Medford campus. It provides an opportunity for you to visit the campus and stay connected with former colleagues. Parking

Emeriti faculty from the Medford/Somerville campus may request a parking permit without charge from the Office of the Provost to use when parking on the Medford/Somerville campus. Shortly after emeriti status is conferred, the Provost’s Office will reach out to gather license plate information. We are only able to provide a parking permit for one (1) vehicle per emeriti faculty and the permit is non-transferrable. If you have any questions, please contact (617) 627-3310 for more information. If your license plate number changes, please contact provost@tufts.edu to update it.

Emeriti faculty from the Grafton campus may apply to Public Safety on the Grafton Campus for a parking permit, and the fee will be waived. Please note that your parking permit is for your use only and cannot be transferred to any other individual.

Complementary parking privileges are not available on the Boston and SMFA campuses at this time.
