Faculty Work-Life

Work/life refers to the intersection of your professional life and personal/family life, and to the information, resources, and policies that help you navigate those intersections. Indeed, a faculty's work life is significantly affected by events such as the arrival of a child, a serious illness or injury or a family member's illness. It is also systemically affected by stressors such as high cost of living and long commutes.

Tufts University and the Schools of Arts and Sciences and of Engineering provide multiple types of work/life support for faculty members throughout their lives and careers. These supports are integral to creating a work environment in which all faculty members can succeed and thrive.

This site aims to point faculty to the relevant pages on AccessTufts that apply to all Tufts employees. AccessTufts is the go-to place for: Healthcare (including HFSA), long-term disability, commuter benefits, wellness, and dependent care resources. However, faculty should consult this Work/Life section first, because it provides additional information applicable to faculty only. Please contact a member of the AS&E Committee on Faculty Work/Life if you have further questions or suggestions for additional content on this site.

Please Note: This AS&E Work/Life section describes policy information that is specific to faculty in AS&E.
